Is My Attendance Important?<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n\n\n

If your attendance at the end of your course is less than 80% you will not be issued with a certificate. Please note that doctors\u2019 certificates are no longer accepted as an excuse for absence. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

What We Expect <\/p>\n\n\n\n

At EC Malta we take student attendance very seriously. We expect a minimum of 80% attendance. We want you to get the maximum benefit from your course! <\/p>\n\n\n\n

As an example: if you miss more than 1 day of lessons in any week, then your attendance for that week will be less than 80%. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Warnings <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Every week we check the students\u2019 overall attendance and we issue a series of warnings for poor attendance. These warnings are as follows: <\/p>\n\n\n\n

1. A verbal warning or email; <\/p>\n\n\n\n

2. A first written warning by email. Your agency will be informed; <\/p>\n\n\n\n

3. A second written warning by email and a meeting with the Director of Studies or the Student Services Manager. Your agency will be informed; <\/p>\n\n\n\n

4. A final written warning and a meeting with the Centre Director. Your agency will be informed; <\/p>\n\n\n\n

5. Depending on the outcome your course may be terminated. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

If you have a personal problem that you would like to discuss with someone in confidence, you can always contact the admin staff you feel comfortable speaking to. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

What is Bullying and Harassment? <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Bullying and Harassment are types of abusive behaviour. This can take different forms: <\/p>\n\n\n\n

It can be physical – such as hitting or kicking or pushing <\/p>\n\n\n\n

It can be verbal – such as teasing or name-calling or threats <\/p>\n\n\n\n

It can be non-verbal – such as ignoring or excluding someone <\/p>\n\n\n\n

It can create an intimidating environment or leave you feeling vulnerable or upset or threatened. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

It can happen once, or it can be persistent. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

It could occur in your class, residence, family or homestay \u2013 or even just walking down the street. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

What is EC Malta’s Policy? <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Our policy is simple – we do not accept any kind of bullying or harassment, or other abusive behaviour. Our aim is to promote understanding and to embrace diversity. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Don’t ignore it, Tell Someone! <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Please tell us if you feel you are being harassed or bullied – or if you are worried about someone else. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
