A lazy (adjective) person is someone who doesn't like to work and use energy. It’s not good to work with a lazy person and you will never see a lazy person going for a run in the park!

Laziness (noun) has a negative meaning. Let's take a look at some other words that show low-energy that are not negative.

Tired/Sleepy

You are tired or sleepy when you have not had enough sleep or when you have used too much energy and you don’t have any left.

"I'm feeling tired because I stayed up late last night studying for the exam."

Lethargic

When you can't do anything because you have only a little energy, you are lethargic (adjective). The noun form is lethargy.

"I start to feel lethargic if I don't eat enough."

Drowsy

When you are tired and almost asleep you are drowsy (adjective). It is the state between being asleep and awake. Some strong medicines may cause drowsiness (noun). You may also feel drowsy after having a head injury i.e. being hit on the head.

"Don't drive after taking these pills. They might make you drowsy."

Lackadaisical

This adjective is used to describe someone who feels or shows little interest or enthusiasm towards their work. They will not put in any effort.

"Simon's teacher said he has a lackadaisical attitude towards school."
