7 In spite of the cost, we bought it. 8 Despite the cost, we bought it. 9 Although it was expensive, we bought it. (In spite of or Despite + noun/gerund) In spite of has the same meaning as Despite.
10 In spite of being ill, she came to work. 11 Despite being ill, she came to work. 12 Although she was ill, she came to work.
