Green Point is a trendy, lively area known for its pubs, cabaret restaurants, nightlife and art. The area is also a popular spot for outdoor exercise, with a promenade that connects to Sea Point and provides public swimming pools, playgrounds, and picnic areas. The residence is situated within easy walking distance to the beachfront, Cape Town City Centre, V&A Waterfront, supermarkets, delis, eateries and a variety of sport clubs and facilities.

With its many amenities and modern African décor, the Green Point Student Residence is perfect for independent students wanting to travel in comfort and style. You can choose a single room with en-suite bath, or a twin or dormitory option with a shared bath. All apartments include a living and dining area and smart TVs, as well as a kitchenette with self-catering facilities: sink, stove, oven, fridge, microwave, kettle and toaster, plates, cutlery, and cups. The building provides a variety of relaxation areas, too including an outdoor swimming pool and braai (South African barbecue) for lazy summer days and social events. Other amenities include e-Scooter, bike and skateboard rental, cleaning service and CCTV security.

The Student Residence has a 24-hour reception. The receptionist will check you in, show you around the property and assist with any information needed.

Airport pickup

If you have booked accommodation with EC, you are entitled to a free airport transfer. You may arrive at any time and will be welcomed at the residence, although you will only be able to check-in at 14:00 on the arrival day. Please provide your flight number, arrival time, terminal and airport of origin at least 2 weeks in advance.

You will meet an EC transportation representative holding an EC Cape Town sign at the arrivals terminal information desk. If, after 10 minutes, you cannot see the EC representative, please call +27 84 8866342 from your mobile phone or from the Airport Information Desk, located on the ground floor in the main terminal lobby close to the exit. Please be ready to provide your details; name, country, student number and where you are waiting in the airport.

If you have missed your flight or it is delayed, notify EC by calling +27 84 886 6342 to re-arrange your transfer time. Should you not notify EC of the flight delay/change, you will forfeit your airport transfer. Late/early arrivals may be asked to book alternative accommodation. Your driver will be waiting for you at Arrivals holding a sign with your name. If after 10 minutes you cannot see your driver, please contact our emergency number +44 (0) 7983 773 121. If your flight is missed, delayed, or cancelled, or if there is any other problem, you should notify EC by calling +44 (0) 7983 773 121 to rearrange your transfer time and avoid additional cost.

E-hailing services (e.g. Uber), airport-based taxi companies and the MyCiti bus provide transport from Cape Town International Airport to the residence.

Journey to school

Arrival and Departure

Arrivals and departures on any day, at any time. Standard booking is per week, from Saturday to Saturday or Sunday to Sunday. Non-standard arrival or departure days are booked as extra nights.

Journey to school

The residence is 2.1km from EC Cape Town

Students can walk to school along the Fan Walk, a pedestrian path which serves the Cape Town Stadium from the central train station. 25-30 minutes walking time to school.

The Wigtown MyCiti bus stop is directly in front of the residence; going to the iconic beach suburbs of Clifton and Camps Bay in one direction and the bustling City Centre in the other direction. Head towards the City Centre and get off at the Riebeeck Stop (4-stops/8 minutes’ away) and then it is a 4-minute walk to the school.

An e-hailing taxi (Uber, etc.) costs approximately €2 to get to the school and taxis are usually available within 3-5 minutes.

House Rules

Students must be 18+ to choose this accommodation.
Dormitory rooms are single gender.
Dormitory rooms include both EC students and non-EC guests.
Noise levels to be observed after 10pm.
No boomboxes/large speakers are permitted on the property.
The building is non-smoking and smoking is only permitted in designated, outside smoking areas.
Students arriving in EC accommodation between 22.00 – 08.00 may be asked to book alternative accommodation for their first night. This is to ensure students’ safety on arrival.
While we promote and support diversity, we cannot guarantee a language or nationality mix within the accommodation. Students are always encouraged to communicate in English and to be inclusive and respectful of each other and other guests in the residence.
Students are expected to keep their rooms clean and tidy, wash their dishes and clean the kitchen after use.
Students are required to follow EC Student Code of Conduct, failure to do so can result in termination of the accommodation.

Cancellations

Cancellation prior to arrival

Cancellations as per standard EC Accommodation Terms and Conditions.
Students cancelling or postponing within 14 days from arrival will be charged a two-week cancellation fee at the weekly rate quoted in the price list for the accommodation booked and an accommodation placement fee.

Cancellation after arrival

Students leaving their accommodation must give 4 weeks’ notice in writing prior to termination. If no notice is given, a 4-week cancellation fee at the quoted accommodation rate applies.
