What you can expect on this course

Improve Skills

On your Erasmus+ English & Teaching Methodology course, you’ll dig into the differences between teaching systems and skills and learn to set real-life objectives. As part of your course, you will: 

  • Learn to scaffold your lesson to achieve these objectives. 
  • Learn how to ensure your learners are at the centre of the learning conversation. 
  • Examine error-correction and feedback techniques. 
  • Learn to plan effective lessons. 
  • Learn practical techniques for working on pronunciation. 
  • Discuss the use of authentic materials. 
  • Discuss the most effective approaches to finishing a lesson. 

Weekly Progress

Working in pairs and groups, you’ll develop your communicative confidence. Every week, you’ll learn a minimum of two language points, gather a range of topic-related lexis, develop a single study skill across the week and build your intercultural communication skills. You can count on: 

  • Practical Homework Tasks—for practicing outside the classroom 
  • Weekly Scores—on your speaking, homework, participation and motivation.  
  • Feedback Fridays—when your teacher will review the week’s learning with you.

The following countries participate in Erasmus programme: The EU (European Union) member states; the EFTA (European Free Trade Association) member states: Norway, Iceland and Liechtenstein; the accession countries, candidate countries and potential candidates: the Republic of North Macedonia, the Republic of Turkey and the Republic of Serbia. Countries NOT associated with the programme include: The western Balkans, the southern Mediterranean countries, the Russian Federation, Asia, Central Asia, Middle East, Pacific countries, Sub-Saharan Africa, Latin America, Caribbean, United States, Canada, Andorra, Vatican City State, Monaco, San Marino, Faroe Islands, Switzerland and the United Kingdom (some UK exceptions may apply).

A range of different groups may apply for a grant for Erasmus+ English teacher training courses at EC, including university instructors, school educational staff members, and teachers and staff from vocational schools, universities and adult education institutions.

What are the accommodations on my Erasmus+ English teacher training course at EC? 

We offer homestay or student residence accommodation (optional). If you choose a homestay, you will live with a family in Malta. A homestay is a great option if you want an opportunity to practice your English with a local family over homecooked meals. If you’re looking for more independence, you may want to consider a student residence.
