Your Neighbourhood

Brighton offers students a vibrant mix of traditional seaside charm and artistic flair. You can explore quirky shops and artists’ studios along the coast, with highlights like the Fishing Quarter, featuring a museum, a modern art trail, and the renowned Artists’ Quarter. The city is packed with trendy bars and eateries, catering to every taste—from award-winning dishes and vegetarian delights to casual beachfront brunches and affordable international cuisine. Many students choose homestay accommodation for an authentic experience, giving them the chance to live like a local, immerse in British culture, and practice their English daily.

Your Accommodation

Homestays are arranged by EC as well as via our accommodation partners Hosts International and Homestay Consultancy, who are registered with the British Council.
Staying with local hosts in Brighton offers a unique opportunity to experience British culture firsthand. Homestays provide insight into daily life, helping you improve your communication skills while exploring the city’s diverse and vibrant atmosphere. Homestays are arranged by EC and through our trusted partners—Hosts International and Homestay Consultancy, both registered with the British Council.

Housing

Brighton homestays offer mixed-gender twin and single-room options. Communal areas such as the lounge, dining room, and kitchen are available, though kitchen use may be limited. Bathrooms are typically shared with the host family.

Room Options

Choose between twin or single rooms. Twin rooms can be shared with a friend or a student of a different nationality. Rooms include essential amenities, with bed linen and towels provided. Comfort homestays offer private bathrooms for exclusive use.

Laundry

Students receive one free clothes wash per week. Drying and ironing facilities are also available.

Meal Description

Students can choose between half board and bed and breakfast. If a student has chosen half board, they can expect to have breakfast and an evening meal with the homestay host every day.

Breakfast can vary from one homestay to another and is usually provided on a self-service basis and will include cereals, toast, coffee and tea. Evening meals most of the time will be with the host and students will eat what the hosts plan.

Homestay providers will also prepare their meals to accommodate any specific requirements relating to religious beliefs, therefore it is important to mention this at the time of your booking.

Bed & Breakfast

For those students requesting bed and breakfast, their homestay will provide breakfast only and students will at most be able to use the kettle and microwave in the kitchen and should not expect to be able to use the cooking facilities.

Dietary Needs

Some students may have allergies to food or prefer a vegetarian diet or in some cases simply do not like a particular food, therefore it is important that this information is shared, and the information made available on the booking form so that the best match can be found when allocating a student to a homestay.
