Vita Student at First Street is a luxurious studio development in Manchester’s bustling and eclectic city centre.    

Facilities  

Kitchen utensils are provided. An iron is available from reception. Tea and coffee are free, and a free breakfast is offered once a week. Luggage drop-off is allowed.

Laundry

The room’s cost includes a cleaning every two weeks. Additional cleaning services are available between £15 and £30, depending on the level of cleaning required. A laundry room is available to wash clothes at £2.80 per load

Arrival procedures

Please send flight details or an estimated arrival time when booking accommodation or as soon as possible once you know it. On arrival, come to the main reception, and the residence staff will give you your card and show you to your room. On departure, please leave your room tidy and return your keys at reception in the lobby. 

Airport pickup

If you have booked an EC airport transfer, on arrival at Manchester Airport please turn on your phone and your driver will be ready to contact you either by phone or message. Your driver will direct you to the place to meet outside the arrivals lounge. Should you have any delays or cancellations on your journey, our driver will be monitoring your flight to ensure they are ready to greet you at the correct time.
If you have problems and cannot contact your driver then please call the EC emergency number on +44 (0) 7474 460908 (from the information desk or a mobile phone).

Other ways to get to your residence 

Trains and trams are available from Manchester Airport. Take the train to Piccadilly station, followed by the Eccles line tram to Deansgate—Castlefield stop. From there, walk for about 10 minutes, or if you prefer, take a taxi; it should cost no more than 10GBP.

Early check-in is not allowed. Students who arrive before check-in time can leave their luggage at the residence.  

Late check-in is allowed (Check-in is 24 hours)

Check-out: 10:00 am.  

Late checkout is not allowed. Students must check out at 10 a.m. If their flights or alternative accommodation are not ready until much later, they can leave their luggage and collect it later that day

Journey to school

Walk  15 – 17 minutes on foot. Head northwest onto First Street toward Whitworth Street and turn right on Whitworth Street for 300 metres. Turn left at Gloucester Street, followed by the first right. Continue straight up the stairs and then left onto Chorlton Street. EC Manchester is on the right.  

Bus  Take bus 256 from Medlock Street towards Piccadilly Gardens. Stop at Portland Street/China Town, stop at CK, and walk down the road to EC Manchester on the left.

House Rules

  • Students must be 18+ to use this residence.  
  • Mixed Gender: Male and female students share common areas and facilities, but bedrooms are single gender  
  • On their first day of school, students will be asked to complete an Authorisation for Damage Deposit form. They will need their bank/credit card to complete this form. The student will be informed prior to any deduction being taken from their card.  
  • Guests are not allowed.  
  • Smoking is not permitted. Anyone found to be smoking in the residence will be fined £1000.   
  • Students arriving in EC accommodation between 22.00 and 08.00 may be asked to book alternative accommodation for their first night. This is to ensure the students’ safety on arrival.  
  • While we promote and support diversity, we cannot guarantee a language mix. However, we always encourage students to use English to communicate and be respectful and inclusive of others.  .  

Resident belongings 

  • EC provides a clean living space for all students and expects a basic level of respect from all students. For example, if something is dropped, pick it up; do not leave clothes and belongings on the floor; place rubbish and leftovers in a garbage bag.
  • Students are required to follow EC Student Code of Conduct, failure to do so can result in termination of the accommodation.

Cancellations

Cancellation prior to arrival

Students cancelling or postponing their accommodation 14 days or less before their accommodation dates will be charged a two-week accommodation fee at the rate quoted in the price list for the accommodation booked and the accommodation placement fee.  

Cancellation after arrival

Students leaving their accommodation must give notice in writing four weeks prior to termination. If the four-week notice period is not provided, a cancellation fee equal to four weeks of the accommodation cost will apply. After deducting the accommodation price used at the rate quoted in the price list, including the required notice period charged at the same rate, students will be refunded the remaining accommodation costs.

Your accommodation in Manchester must match the duration of your course. Accommodation typically begins on Saturday, with courses starting on Monday and finishing on Friday. 

Can I book my Manchester accommodation with friends? 

Yes, if you’re travelling to Manchester with a friend, you can book a shared room in select residences or homestays, subject to availability.
