Your Accommodation

At Midtown Residence, you can choose between a standard room and a twin room. A standard room is a single room with two twin-size beds and an ensuite bathroom. It is furnished with a closet, desk, and chair, as well as a refrigerator and microwave.  

The twin room is shared by two people. It has two twin-size beds and an ensuite bathroom. The room is furnished with a closet, two desks, a chair each, a refrigerator, and a microwave.  

If students change rooms during their stay, they must check out and re-check in after 4 pm. The building will not store the students’ luggage or belongings during this time.  The student can use one of the following apps for luggage storage (usebounce.com, luggagehero.com or app.luggagedrop.com)

Room Furnishings

Each student is given a blanket, a top sheet, a fitted sheet, a pillow/pillowcase, a basic towel (20″ x 35″), a plate, a cup, a bowl, and a set of cutlery. Each room also has a roll of toilet paper

Kitchen Facilities

Self-vending kiosks using the app “Tulu” are available in common areas and the communal kitchen. Students can rent service items like cleaning supplies, and cooking items can be rented directly at the school. 

Laundry

The staff cleans rooms between checkouts. Additional room cleanings cost $100 if scheduled for a Saturday or $200 on any other day of the week. The extra cleaning service does not include linen changes. Students can use the laundry room. The cost is $2.50 per wash and $2.50 per dry.

Arrival procedures

Check-in at the front desk with your Residence ID card for building access. You will need your photo ID and a copy of your EC English booking confirmation to check-in. 

Airport pickup

If you booked an airport transfer, after you collect your luggage and exit into the Arrivals Area, find the Welcome Center and look for your driver. Your driver will be waiting there with a sign with your name.  Please note:  For arrivals at JFK International Airport, there is construction at Terminal 1 and 7. 

Your driver cannot enter the terminal but has been instructed to meet you by the roadside. After entering the arrivals area, go outside the street and meet your driver at passenger pickup area “B”. For Terminal 4, please take the airport shuttle bus to the Remote Ride App and Car Service Lot location, and your driver will be in pickup slots R1, R2, or P2.

Note: International transfers will arrive 90 minutes after the flight, and domestic arrivals will arrive 30 minutes after the flight lands to allow the students to retrieve their luggage.  If you do not see a driver with a sign with your name, please call the EC New York Emergency line at +1-631-612-4494.

MTA – 9 min down the 6 train from 51st to 42nd, and walk. Or 20 min walk from the building.

House Rules

  • Students must be 18 + to choose this accommodation  
  • The building is mixed-gender.  
  • Students are not required to pay a damage deposit  
  • No pets or partying.
  • Only one overnight guest is permitted at any time. Students in a single room are allowed one overnight guest for up to three nights. Guests will not be provided with a linen package. All guests must be entered in the StarRez system at least one hour prior to arrival. Guests need to provide their first name, last name, email, phone number, and a copy of their photo ID.
  • Smoking is not permitted in the accommodation  
  • Students arriving in EC accommodation between 22.00 and 08.00 may be asked to book alternative accommodation for their first night. This is to ensure the students’ safety on arrival.  
  • While we promote and support diversity, we cannot guarantee a language mix. However, we always encourage students to use English to communicate and be respectful and inclusive of others.  
  • EC provides a clean living space for all students and expects a basic level of respect from all students. For example, if something is dropped, pick it up; do not leave clothes and belongings on the floor; place rubbish and leftovers in a garbage bag.
  • Students are required to follow EC Student Code of Conduct, failure to do so can result in termination of the accommodation.

Cancellations

Cancellation prior to arrival

Students cancelling or postponing 14 days or less prior to their accommodation dates will be charged a two-week accommodation fee at the rate quoted in the price list for the accommodation booked and the accommodation placement fee. 

Cancellation after arrival

Students leaving their accommodation must give notice in writing 4 weeks prior to termination. If the 4-week notice period is not provided a cancellation fee equal to 4 weeks of the accommodation cost will apply. After deducting the price of accommodation used at the rate quoted in the price list, including the required notice period charged at the same rate, students will be refunded the remaining accommodation costs.

Your accommodation in New York must match the duration of your course. Accommodation typically begins on Saturday, with courses at EC New York starting on Monday and finishing on Friday. 

Can I book my New York accommodation with friends? 

Yes, if you’re studying at EC New York with a friend, you can share a room in select residences or homestays.
