Homestay overview

Your home-away-from-home experience with EC

Your neighborhood

We host students within the Cape Town City Bowl and Atlantic Seaboard areas:

Aptly referred to as the City Bowl, the heart of the city is held in an enclosed basin formed between the Atlantic Ocean and the face of Table Mountain, flanked on one side by Lion’s Head and Signal Hill, and on the other by Devil’s Peak. From the busy seaport, through the business centre, and up into the more residential slopes, the city reveals its rich history and contemporary metropolitan character. The Cape Town City Centre is made up of the Foreshore, CBD, Bo-Kaap, Gardens, Higgovale, Tamboerskloof, Oranjezicht, Vredehoek and Devil’s Peak.

The Atlantic Seaboard stretches from the V&A Waterfront on the north shore of Table Mountain, all the way down the west side of the Cape Peninsula, stopping just short of Hout Bay. It takes in Green Point, Sea Point, Fresnaye, Bantry Bay, Camps Bay, Bakoven, Oudekraal and Llandudno along the way, and includes some of the world’s finest beaches and trendy seaside hot spots. These are all connected by a picturesque scenic drive flanked by the Twelve Apostles mountain range and the Atlantic Ocean.

Your Accommodation

Students are hosted on a half-board basis (breakfast and evening meals only) from Monday to Sunday.

FAQs about Cape Town accommodations at EC English

At EC, can I book my student accommodation in Cape Town with friends?

Yes, if you are studying at EC Cape Town with a friend, you can share a room in select residences or homestays. Contact us to learn more.

If I choose a shared-bedroom for my student accommodation in Cape Town, who will I be sharing with?

You will be sharing your room with another EC student of the same gender. When students are sharing rooms, we try our best to place students together from different countries or languages, although this is not always guaranteed.

For my homestay student accommodation in Cape Town, how do you assign the host family?

This is based on availability and any special requirements you might have. Please make sure that all your requests are expressed at the time of the booking.

Which type of student accommodation in Cape Town should I choose?

Choosing a Cape Town accommodation type depends on your lifestyle preferences. If you want to practice your English with a local family over homecooked meals, you should choose a homestay. If you want more independence and connection with other students, a student residence may be the right choice. If you are looking for privacy, you will want to consider an aparthotel.
