The Overlook is located in Boston’s Brighton neighbourhood, right next to Allston. These areas are popular with students and young professionals, giving them a lively and welcoming atmosphere. You’ll find plenty of cafés, restaurants, grocery stores, and shops within walking distance, as well as easy access to public transportation that connects you to downtown Boston. Brighton and Allston are known for their diverse food scene, music venues, and relaxed residential streets. It’s a great mix of convenience and community, with everything you need for daily life close by, plus a good social scene when you want it.

The Overlook at St. Gabriel’s is a special apartment community. It uses beautiful restored historic budlings, like an old church and monastery, mixed with modern fully furnished twin apartment. The Overlook includes lots of green space, a pool, fitness areas, lounges, a café, and a big community space called Maker Hall. It blends old charm with modern comfort.

  • Rooms are cleaned upon arrival, students are responsible for cleaning their own rooms, but can have them cleaned for an additional charge.
  • There is one washing machine and one dryer available per unit. Students need to buy their own laundry detergent.

Arrival procedures

The owner of the house meets and greets students. He shows them around the house, to their room, and hands over the keys. He shows students how to get to school one day before their course starts. He offers students sim cards and shows where to find the nearest ATM. 

Airport pickup

If you have requested an airport transfer service from the airport to your accommodation, the driver will be waiting for you at the Information Desk, located inside your Arriving Terminal.  Your driver will be holding a sign with EC Boston on it.  There is only one Information Desk in each terminal, so please do not leave your Arrival Terminal and do not go outside. 

If you do not see the Transportation Company Representative immediately, please wait for 15 minutes at the designated meeting spot. If, after 15 minutes, you still do not see the Transfer company, please call or send a WhatsApp message to 1-857-707-9161. Even if the Transfer Company does not answer the phone, please leave a message about your location, so the representative can meet you as soon as possible. 

Please make sure to contact EC Boston if there is any problem, or if you have missed your flight or if your flight is delayed, so we can inform the transfer company of your later arrival. EC Boston’s emergency phone numbers is1-202-909-5873 If you have missed your flight or if your flight is delayed, you should notify EC by calling +27 (0) 84 8866342 (from the information desk or a mobile phone) to rearrange your transfer time and avoid additional cost. (Useful phrases to use: My name is [your name]. I am from [your country]. My student number is [#####] and my flight has been changed. My new flight number is [####] arriving at [time]}.

House Rules

  • Students must be 18 + to choose this accommodation  
  • Mixed Gender: Male and female students share common areas and facilities, but bedrooms are single-gender.  
  • Students are not required to pay a damage deposit  
  • Max. of 2 guests at a time. No overnight guests. 
  • Smoking is not permitted in the accommodation  
  • While we promote and support diversity, we cannot guarantee a language mix. However, we always encourage students to use English to communicate and be respectful and inclusive of others.  

Resident belongings 

  • EC provides a clean living space for all students and expects a basic level of respect from all students. For example, if something is dropped, pick it up; do not leave clothes and belongings on the floor; place rubbish and leftovers in a garbage bag.
  • Students are required to follow EC Student Code of Conduct, failure to do so can result in termination of the accommodation.

Cancellations

Cancellation prior to arrival

Students cancelling or postponing 14 days or less prior to their accommodation dates will be charged a two-week accommodation fee at the rate quoted in the price list for the accommodation booked and the accommodation placement fee. 

Cancellation after arrival

Students leaving their accommodation must give notice in writing 4 weeks prior to termination. If the 4-week notice period is not provided a cancellation fee equal to 4 weeks of the accommodation cost will apply. After deducting the price of accommodation used at the rate quoted in the price list, including the required notice period charged at the same rate, students will be refunded the remaining accommodation costs.

Single rooms are available in both our residences and homestays. Some options also include private bathrooms. Book early, especially in summer, as single rooms are in high demand. 

How long can I book my Boston accommodation for? 

Your accommodation in Boston must match the duration of your course. Accommodation typically begins on Saturday, with courses at EC Boston starting on Monday and finishing on Friday. 

Can I book my Boston accommodation with friends? 

Yes, if you’re studying at EC Boston with a friend, you can share a room in select residences or homestays.
