If any city in the world looks like a postcard, it is Vancouver. Mountains behind you, ocean in front of you, and one of the most walkable, livable downtowns in North America all around you. Studying English here means you will want to get outside and use the language as much as possible, and that is exactly the right instinct.

The most important piece of advice is simple: book early. Host cities will fill up quickly, so act quickly. At EC English, we offer accommodation in homestays with a local family or in student housing, but availability is limited. That’s why reserve your place as soon as possible. Finding your own accommodation during the World Cup will be expensive as prices will rise sharply. Places on courses are limited, too. We recommend securing your booking as soon as possible, especially if you want to attend specific matches. You can get a free quote here.
A great formula for most students is two to four weeks of English classes; that gives you enough time to make genuine progress with your English while fully experiencing the tournament atmosphere. Think about it: you practise in the classroom on Monday morning, and by Saturday night, you are putting that same language to use with fans from twenty different countries at the stadium.
When choosing your city, think about which matches matter most to you. New York has the Final. Toronto and Vancouver have Canada matches. Los Angeles has the USA’s opening game. There is no wrong answer, just different dreams.

The World Cup is not just a football tournament. It is a global gathering, a shared moment, and one of the rare events that genuinely brings the whole world together in one place.
Learning English in a host city means you will not just be watching history unfold. You will be living it, speaking it, and making memories that last far beyond the final whistle.
Whether you want to be inside MetLife Stadium for the World Cup Final in New York, explore Boston’s Freedom Trail between morning and afternoon classes, watch the sunset over the Pacific after a session in Santa Monica, or walk to the game from your school in Vancouver, EC English has an English language course that fits your World Cup dream.

Absolutely. Many matches take place in the evenings or on weekends. Many students plan their course weeks around key fixtures in advance.
Two weeks is a great starting point, but four weeks or more will give you a lot more confidence and ability. Immersion works quickly when you are surrounded by the language inside and outside the classroom.
One of the benefits of learning English with EC during the World Cup is access to our student accommodation. Many accommodation providers really put up their prices during the tournament because of the high demand. At EC we offer homestay and resident accommodation at fair prices. Please book early because accommodation is limited.
All six cities are excellent choices, but New York and Los Angeles are the most iconic first-time destinations. Boston is ideal for a smaller, more intimate experience with a strong sense of history.
