BlackBrick is located in the Foreshore neighborhood, only a 9-minute walk to EC Cape Town. It is on the city’s main pedestrian road, St George’s Mall, so you will be uninterrupted by traffic when walking through the city. The area has lots of coffee shops, a SALT food market, and a gym. The central train and bus stations are within a 5-minute walk, and you will find a bank, pharmacy and supermarket nearby. It is also a 5-minute walk from Bree Street, the trendy restaurant street in the Cape Town city centre, as well as a 5-minute walk to a fast-food area of Long Street. Overall, the accommodation is very central, with the school—and everything you need—within a 10-minute walk.

BlackBrick offers fully private, one-bedroom apartments or studios, each with en-suite bath, perfect for independent students looking for privacy, comfort and convenience. The apartments include a queen bed, self-catering kitchen with a small bar fridge, microwave, kettle, toaster, stove and kitchen utensils; work desk, smart TV and free W-Fi. All utilities are included. Full room cleaning with a linen and towel change is provided once a week, and laundry collection service is available. The building itself offers a wide range of modern amenities, including a cafeteria, kitchen, library, multimedia room and lounge and fitness center. A concierge and CCTV provide 24/7 security.

Arrivals and departures on any day, at any time. Standard booking is per week, from Saturday to Saturday or Sunday to Sunday. Non-standard arrival or departure days are booked as extra nights. Check-in at reception and the guest will be taken to their bedroom.

Apartments are booked either as a single or a twin on request.

Guests are allowed if accompanied by a resident.

Smoking is allowed on the rooftop only.

While we promote and support diversity, we cannot guarantee language mix. However, we always encourage students to use English to communicate, be respectful and inclusive of others

EC provides a clean living space for all students and expects a basic level of respect from all students. For example, if something is dropped, pick it up; do not leave clothes and belongings on the floor; place rubbish and leftovers in a garbage bag

Students are required to follow EC Student Code of Conduct, failure to do so can result in termination of the accommodation.

Cancellations

Cancellation prior to arrival

Students cancelling or postponing within 14 days of arrival date, for reasons other than visa denial, will be charged a two-week accommodation fee at the standard accommodation rate and the accommodation placement fee.

Cancellation after arrival

Students leaving their accommodation must give notice in writing 4 weeks prior to termination. After deducting the price of accommodation used, including the required notice period, charged at standard accommodation rates, students will be refunded the remaining accommodation costs. If the 4-week notice period is not provided a cancellation fee equal to 4 weeks of the accommodation cost will apply
